Josh Allen earned his 19th career AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Wednesday. His first nod of the 2026 season comes after a dominant performance against the Detroit Lions in Week 2.
Allen completed 20-of-31 of his passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns through the air, with a 121.4 passer rating in the Bills' 41-31 win. He added 14 carries for 69 yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns with his legs.
The Week 2 win was the first game at Highmark Stadium, with Allen wanting to start it off on the right foot. Buffalo elected to receive the opening kickoff and immediately let the gunslinger get to work.
Accounting for 62 of the team's 85 yards to open the night, Allen capped off the drive with a one-yard rushing touchdown for the first points in the Bills' new home.
Allen's arm took over the spotlight on the next two drives. The 30-year-old created three splash plays of over 20 yards through the air, with a 43-yard touchdown pass to WR Joshua Palmer and a one-yard strike to TE Dawson Knox giving Buffalo three touchdowns on as many possessions.
The big first half for Allen continued with another score before the break. The QB found TE Dalton Kincaid flying up the seam for a 16-yard dart over the middle of the field into the end zone as halftime loomed.
In the second half, Allen led a 15-play, 75-yard drive that took over eight minutes off the clock, finishing the job with a two-yard rushing touchdown around the right edge.
After a strong Week 1 showing where he tallied four total touchdowns against an impressive Houston Texans defense, Allen continued his strong start to the 2026 campaign by leading his team to a 41-31 victory in the home opener.
Other milestones achieved by Allen
- Tallied his fourth career game with 3+ passing & 2+ rushing touchdowns in a game. Kordell Stewart (2) is the only other player to ever tally multiple such games in NFL history.
- Became the second player in NFL history to account for 9+ total touchdowns & 4+ rushing touchdowns over a span of 5 days. Allen joined Ernie Nevers from November 24-28, 1929, when he ran for 9 touchdowns & scored all 59 of the Cardinals' points in 2 wins (19-0 & 40-6).
- Notched two rushing touchdowns to raise his career total to 83 rushing touchdowns. He's now tied with Jim Taylor for 18th place on the NFL's all-time list.
- Is the first player with 5+ passing touchdowns and 3+ rushing touchdowns through two games of a season in NFL history.
